I’m so excited to be heading out to Holyoke and Northampton in western Massachusetts tomorrow! Three speaking engagements are on the schedule – two presentations of Laughing in the Face of Death: Funny Films for Funeral Planning and a library talk focused on A Good Goodbye: Funeral Planning for Those Who Don’t Plan to Die. Plus, it’s peak leaf color time! Check out this image from a few days ago.
Here’s the lowdown on each event:
Sunday, October 21, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel, 1 Atwood Drive, Northampton, MA. Laughing in the Face of Death: Funny Films for Funeral Planning is an upbeat talk illustrated with clips from comedy films and television programs. Just as talking about sex won’t make you pregnant, talking about funerals won’t make you dead – and your family will benefit from the conversation. Sponsored by the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Massachusetts (FCAWM).
FCAWM is an all-volunteer, non-sectarian, non-profit education organization dedicated to protecting a consumer’s right to choose a meaningful, dignified and affordable funeral or memorial service. Information at www.FuneralConsumersWMass.org or 413-774-2320. A free event.
Monday, October 22, 12:30 p.m. at the Holyoke Council on Aging, War Memorial Building, 310 Appleton Street, Holyoke, MA. The presentation will take place downstairs in the dining room. If you miss the Sunday presentation of Laughing in the Face of Death: Funny Films for Funeral Planning, here’s your chance to catch it! A free event.
Monday, October 22, 7:00 p.m. at the Holyoke Public Library, located in City Hall on the second floor, 536 Dwight Street Holyoke, MA. Gail Rubin gives a book talk about the issues raised in A Good Goodbye: Funeral Planning for Those Who Don’t Plan to Die, insights from her 30 Funerals in 30 Days Challenge, and will answer your burning questions on cremation, green burial, and all things funeral related. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
And the leaves are brilliant in western Massachusetts this time of year! Here’s a picture from the neighborhood.
