Epitaphs with Character

One of the joys of strolling through cemeteries is reading the epitaphs on headstones and memorial markers. You can really get a sense of the character of the person who’s being memorialized by what is written on the marker for their final resting place.

Here are a few of the descriptions and sayings I jotted down while strolling in the cemetery where my husband and I will someday be buried:

“Physician Wife Mother Friend, Brilliant Passionate Strong Fun Adventurous, My Inspiration and Forever One of a Kind, Thank You Mom”

“Son Brother Husband Father, Bright Articulate Gourmet Traveler Mensch”

“Beloved of Her Family, She Knew No Strangers”

“She lit up every room she entered”

“You gave us gifts such as we never dreamt of finding in our lives, Our loving Mom and Nana”

“Laughter is the best medicine”

“Be good to yourself, and be good to humanity”

Anyone have others to add to the list?

A Good Goodbye
