Today, we detour into the pop culture phenomenon, Breaking Bad. It just won a slew of Emmy® awards last night, and it was filmed here in my home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Back in June, my parents binge-watched the entire five-season series in just a few weeks. For my dad’s 84th birthday, I took Mom and Dad on a private tour of filming sites for the TV show.
During our excursion, I recorded each stop. We were fortunate to meet Fran, the lady who owns the house that became known as Walter and Skyler White’s home, and got a few words with Melissa Bernstein, the executive director of the series. She lives in Albuquerque!
Among the sites you’ll see are:
- Walt and Skyler’s house
- Hank and Marie’s house
- Jesse Pinkman’s house
- Gus Fring’s house
- Walter White’s condo
- The laundry facility where Gus’ meth lab was located
- The Savoy Bar & Grill and The Grove restaurants
- The John Robertson Dam
- Saul Goodman’s offices
- The A-1/Octopus car wash and the vacuum repair shop
- The Railyards of Albuquerque
- Walter White’s memorial marker
