If you’ve spent your life recycling and minimizing your carbon footprint, wouldn’t you like to make your final disposition eco-friendly as well? Then sign up for the August 9 class “How to ‘Green’ Your Final Arrangements” at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

Did you know cremation can generate 532 pounds of CO2 or more per person? With more than a million people in the U.S. alone choosing cremation every year, this adds up to a significant carbon footprint. There are ways to make your final disposition have a lighter impact on the environment.

In this two-hour class, learn about new death care trends in the United States. These include green burial, DIY/home funerals, alkaline hydrolysis and other ways to make your final disposition more in line with your environmental values. Funny film clips help illustrate concepts while you laugh and learn.

Register online for Course 19885, the fee is $20. The class will take place Friday, August 9, 10:00 a.m. to noon at the UNM Continuing Education Building, 1634 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.
