Grandpa Bredo Morstoel

Grandpa Bredo Morstoel

Check out today’s blog post on the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys website! My guest blog post is all about what we can learn from the strange but true story of how Bredo Morstoel became the frozen dead guy at the center of the Frozen Dead Guy Days festival.

To find out the story highlights and the lessons we can learn from Grandpa’s example, read the story: Estate Planning Lessons from the Frozen Dead Guy

Then mark your calendar for two great events in Colorado:

On Thursday, March 6, Longmont’s Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home is hosting Laughing in the Face of Death, my upbeat talk that illustrates funeral planning issues with clips from comedy films and TV shows.

The hour-long talk will start at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel at 503 Terry Street, Longmont. Popcorn and beverages will be served at this free talk. A showing of Hotel Transylvania, a 91-minute animated family film, will follow Laughing in the Face of Death. RSVP to Marika Means at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services PH: 303-776-4477.

Then, the 13th annual Frozen Dead Guy Days, a wild and wacky celebration with a hearse parade, coffin races, polar plunges, great music and lots of icy fun, takes place March 7 to 9, 2014 in Nederland, Colorado, 17 miles west of Boulder.

The whole true story of Grandpa, Trygve, Aud and the town of Nederland is told in the 30-minute documentary, “Grandpa’s in the TUFF SHED.” I’ll be in Nederland showing the film and conducting The Newly-Dead Game® on Saturday and Sunday at the Black Forest Restaurant.

The Newly-Dead Game is similar to the TV game show The Newlywed Game, but the questions test how well couples know each other’s last wishes. Couples are encouraged to sign up in advance to play for free at the Black Forest Restaurant. Games will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m.
