New Movie on a Living Memorial Service

Jul 29, 2010 | 1 comment

Just heard about a new movie coming out that provides a light look at funeral planning.

Called Get Low, starring Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray, the film’s tagline is “Every secret dies somewhere.” The short synopsis according to the International Movie Database is: A movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party… while he was still alive.

The film is debuting in New York and Los Angeles on July 30, 2010, and opening broadly across the U.S. in August, 2010.

You can check out this post about E.B. Sugars, who held his own memorial service while he was still alive in 1998. I thought he was a pioneer then!

Watch this interview with Robert Duvall, interspersed with the trailer for Get Low. It looks like a winner!
