On the Way to ICCFA

Heading out to the convention of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) today. The event, a very big deal in the death care industry, is taking place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada the rest of this week. And today is Mardi Gras – it should be an interesting scene there.

I was just in the fabulous Las Vegas, New Mexico yesterday, stopping there to fill up the gas tank (almost $50!) to get back to ABQ from Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland, Colorado where “The Newly-Dead Game” debuted. That was also an interesting scene. This is a big week for travel!

My business,  A Good Goodbye, is now a member of the ICCFA. Leading up to this convention and expo, emails and snail mail pieces from all sorts of businesses have shown up, encouraging me to visit their booths.

From creative treatments for cremated remains to ways to memorialize departed pets, green burial to alkaline hydrolysis, and everything in between, I will report on new trends showcased at this convention. The Jewish Funeral Directors of America will be meeting here as part of the convention, and I plan to attend educational sessions on Jewish funeral customs and practices.

Tune in to see what the industry is up to!
