Besides Non Sequitur, Zits is one of my favorite comic strips, but it so rarely features funerals or a Death Cartoon. Today was the day!
Jeremy wakes up and tells his mom, “I’ve just had the worst nightmare! I dreamt that I was at a funeral…” “Oh, my!” says Mom.
“…and I had to wear a suit and tie!” finishes Jeremy.
“I’d offer to turn on the nightlight, but it’s almost noon,” comments Dad.
Funerals still call for dressing up, although it doesn’t have to be that way.
At one of the 30 Funerals in 30 Days I attended this year, the women wore blue silk flowers in their hair and the men wore white shirts and blue jeans because Mom wanted the family to be comfortable (and dress in Dallas Cowboys colors).
At the biker funeral, most folks wore leather and motorcycle riding gear for the memorial ride that took place afterward. At a young woman’s funeral, many attendees wore her favorite color, purple.
