Today we have two Death Cartoons that feature eulogies at funerals.
In The Awkward Yeti by Nick Seluk, we have The Gnat Funeral. A little black gnat is in the casket, with its little gnat friends sitting on chairs, while a gnat standing at a podium says, “He lived a long…”
Suddenly the gnats on the chairs fall over dead (you can tell they’re dead because they have little x’s where the eyes used to be). “Well… relatively long…” says the speaker, who then keels over too. The funeral parlor is full of dead gnats, which don’t have a very long life span.
And the lesson is – how long is a long time to live? It’s all relative. Make the most of each day.
Meanwhile, in the Lola comic strip, she is speaking at the funeral of a friend. “We gather to say goodbye to our friend, Walter. A man dedicated to the art of mime. Now trapped in a box for eternity.” At least he had lots of practice at showing the box!
