It must be the solar flares sending us a bumper crop of Death Cartoons this week!
Today’s Close to Home features “J. Cronin’s Casket Showroom” with several full sized caskets on display. A woman is looking at a sign in the room: “Take Our Online Survey and You Could Win a $500 Shopping Spree!”
Whoopee. If he only sells caskets, that $500 won’t go very far. A plain pine box costs at least $750.
Today’s Non Sequitur is more of a medical end-of-life themed cartoon, titled “The H.M.O. Expensive Care Unit.” A nurse is pushing a patient in a wheelchair down a hallway. The patient is looking at a sign on the wall pointing toward a door. The sign reads “The We All Have to Go Sometimes Ward.”
In a sly bit of commentary, there’s an exit sign over the door. We do all have to go at some point – hope folks will take that message to heart and make some plans.
