How did I miss these cartoons? On Tuesday, Non Sequitur featured the unfortunate delivery of a “Get Well Soon” flower arrangement to the cemetery. The delivery man, talking on his cell phone, says, “Never mind why, Larry… Just get someone over to the hospital and retrieve that other order.”
And over in Close To Home, the Grim Reaper delivers a message, bopping a guy on the head with a special scythe that has a boxing glove on the end. The caption reads, “That’s just a warning to lay off the cream filled doughnuts and start getting some exercise.”
So far, over the past few months I’ve referred to at least 25 cartoons that refer to funerals, standing at the Pearly Gates, the Grim Reaper, obituaries, and other death-related subjects. It’s a subject that gets a lot of laughs, but I think it’s whistling past the graveyard.
Funeral planning, anyone?
