This Non Sequitur cartoon addresses the selfie fad in the funeral home. Almost all the attendees are holding their smart phones on selfie sticks as they sit in front of an open casket. One man is waving at his camera as he stands in front of the deceased.
There are only two people in the audience without selfie sticks. That man says to the woman next to him, “Every time I think the selfie fad has peaked, I’m proved wrong.”
The taking of photos at funerals is a very individual choice within a family. Some siblings have stopped speaking because someone thought taking pictures at a funeral was a good idea. Before you whip out your phone to snap a few pics for Instagram, check with the mourners if that would be okay. If anyone says no, respect their choice and put the phone away.
