In today’s comics, there’s a Red & Rover cartoon that prompted many sad comments from the online readers. Red’s parents, whom you don’t see very often in this strip, are sitting on the couch together.
Dad says, “Honey, should we be concerned about Red? He doesn’t have many friends.” She replies, “Sweetheart, he has Rover. Rover’s loyal… protective… caring… and always there for him. The time to be concerned about Red is when Rover’s no longer around.”
No one wants to think about beloved pets dying. Not even the cartoons can make that funny.
This Close to Home cartoon, however, shows the absurdity of having a fortune teller in hell. People are standing in line surrounded by flames, as the fortune teller looks into her crystal ball and says, “Whew, things SURE look grim for you! Eternal damnation, and hotter than blazes…”
Well, duh, tell them something they don’t know!
