Today’s Bizarro cartoon shows a man on his deathbed talking to a priest. He says, “I’ve made a lot of enemies in my life, Father. I’d like my headstone to read, “DANCING PROHIBITED.”
With the rising rates of people choosing cremation and scattering, there will be fewer graves to dance upon. Eventually, people won’t have the cultural reference to get the joke. While Catholics have historically preferred burial over cremation, the Church has ruled that cremation is okay, as long as the remains are given a permanent resting place. That would be in a cemetery.
And that’s why I saw more exhibitors at the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s (ICCFA) 2015 convention and expo showing cremation niches for cemeteries.
You can’t dance ON a cremation niche, but you can dance IN FRONT of one.
