Two recent Pickles cartoons reflect on the regrets of the dying. In the first one, Earl and Opal are sitting on the couch and he asks, “What’s that?”
She replies, “It’s a list of what dying people say are their biggest regrets. One of the biggest regrets is being afraid to say ‘I love you.'” She then turns to the cat resting on the arm of the couch. “I love you,” she says. “Check!”
In the second one, Earl asks, “So that’s a list of the things dying people say they most regret?”
“Yes,” replies Opal. “They say they regret not traveling more, not pursuing their dreams, not using sunscreen… not spending more time with family, not learning another language, not flossing…”
“I find it hard to believe none of them said they regret dying,” quips Earl.
As if any of us has a choice in that regard. I’m surprised they included not flossing and not using sunscreen. However, if your teeth rot and you get skin cancer, that would be cause for regrets. Anyone want to add to the list?
