A Good Goodbye Does Good!

The other day a friend told me A Good Goodbye: Funeral Planning for Those Who Don’t Plan to Die helped her family as her sister was dying of cancer. Even though the sister had been ill for several years, she and her husband could not bring themselves to talk about funeral planning.

When my friend came to visit during her sister’s last days, she was able to foster a conversation about what her sister wanted in her memorial service. The result was a moving, meaningful event that was exactly right.

It was because of what she learned from A Good Goodbye that my friend was able to help get the conversation going. That’s exactly what the book is designed to do. It did my heart good to hear a real life story about how it is making an impact.

And the book has a new cover! It won “Best of Show” in the 2011 New Mexico Book Awards and was a finalist in the Family & Relationships category of the 2010 Book of the Year Awards. In place of stickers, the information is now printed on the front cover. Check it out!
