This Death Cartoon is a wake up call. Today’s Pickles cartoon provides an apt reflection on our use of language regarding metaphors for death.
Grandpa Earl is trying to take a nap on the couch. His grandson asks if he’s resting, and Earl says, “Tryin’ to.” His grandson says, “Okay. Well, rest in peace, Grandpa.” That shocks Earl out of any semblance of sleep.
So, are you napping through your lifetime? What will it take to wake up to living each day fully and deeply? As the song goes, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” Meanwhile, be alive. And nap when you need to.
